Kids Corner: Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus
by Barbara Park
4 of 5 hearts. A Laughable Look at How Wrong Things Can Go on the First Day of School. Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus will have kids in fits of laughter and parents either laughing along or frowning with disapproval. Why? Because Junie B. is six years old and completely unfiltered. She’s reactive, impulsive, loud, and most of all, totally unpredictable.
Nicole C. also wins a copy of When Calls the Heart: The Dance on DVD.
Kids Corner: The Seven Tales of Trinket
by Shelley Moore Thomas
5 of 5 hearts. Seven Magical Tales of Wonder and Adventure. A perfect family read-aloud, The Seven Tales of Trinket is a small treasure filled with seven interconnected tales of fantasy and suspense that form a beautiful, memorable whole you’ll want to visit again and again!
Eating My Own Words: It’s Not “About Me”
I’m doing this for me. That’s what I said when I first began my blogging journey. I’ve since learned a few things, and in so doing have had to eat those words.
It’s not about me. Nor has it ever been. So why do I blog? Read on!
Kids Corner: Wild Born (Spirit Animals Book 1)
by Brandon Mull
3.5 of 5 hearts. A Promising Premise As Yet Incomplete in Execution. Though I ultimately found Wild Born disappointing, young readers are bound to enjoy this start to a tale which points to an impending grand-scale struggle, with far-reaching consequences, between good and evil. Who doesn’t want to save the world?
4.5 of 5 hearts. Words of Encouragement and Empowerment. Staying Strong 365 Days a Year inspires its readers through life-affirming quotations and reflections. It’s like getting a daily pep talk from Demi to help you deal with whatever obstacles, internal or external, might be causing you to stumble on your path to happiness.
And that’s everything that happened on ReadLove this week. See you next week!
Until then, I’d love it if you shared a bit about your week in the comments!
